Overview
We have a unique opportunity in our Frisco office located in The Star to support our growing POA practice. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual who can work independently to support the mission of our firm. The Title Assistant will ensure all legal documents relating to properties are researched so our attorneys and paralegal staff know the true legal status of any property involved in a legal case.
Responsibilities- Research for prior deeds to identify any existing obstacles to the legal sale of a property, keeping records of the search and the data it generated.
- Understand property law terminology to effectively communicate with legal professionals and fully satisfy requests for information.
- Gather title details and organize them into reports for attorneys and paralegals while upholding the strictest confidentiality.
- Use analytical skills to determine if more in-depth research is needed on a particular property and determine if an issue exists that could stop the sale of a property, such as tax assessments or liens.
- Maintain professionalism in all verbal and written communication, work independently on title research caseload and maintain a high level of productivity.
- Comply with all professional standards of title examinations and analysis while using real estate industry software and search tools.
- Minimum 2 (two) years of full time experience with title examination or abstracting, legal research, and analysis of documentation regarding ownership and legal descriptions.
- Able to navigate through county clerk’s websites and other databases such as Courthouse Direct, TLO, etc...
- Familiar with Geographical Indexes.
- Must be self-motivated, committed to excellence in the workplace, and have excellent attention to detail.
- Be able to work independently, to see a research project through to completion and to be able to report the findings of their research accurately and clearly.
- Have demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance competing demands and meet deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and database applications.
- 4-year degree.
- Knowing bankruptcy and other relevant laws and regulations.
- Prior legal office experience.
Compensation is based on experience. Bonus eligible. Firm benefits include medical, dental, vision, accident, critical illness, long term care, LTD, STD, 401(k).
