** Duties/Responsibilities
*** Accurately and timely documents patient assessments, interventions, evaluates overall response of patient/family.
* patient/family response to care, and revises the plan of care as needed, along with any patient/family education.
* Assists with post-operative Physical Therapy protocols and research / standard of care questionnaires assignments based on patient/diagnosis.
* Effectively assists in the prevention, assessment and treatment of sports related injury by providing brace fittings, functional assessments, home exercise programs, etc.
* Coordinates outside therapy and other referrals for patient families as needed.
* Enters orders and referrals as delegated by the provider or standing policy
* Performs telephone triage assessment to manage a patient/parent/guardian call to determine the urgency of the medical issue, appropriate recommendation for care and intervention (with escalation to provider as appropriate), and timing of appointment scheduling, if needed.
* Provides individualized patient/parent education utilizing input from the family
* Communicates sport-specific education and limitations with athletic trainers, coaches, etc.
* Takes responsibility for own professional development, asking questions to gain professional insight, enhance clinical skills and function as an effective part of the team.
* Participates in educational events & serves as a preceptor for new staff
* Accountable for meeting the standards of patient/personal safety and in maintaining a clean and therapeutic environment
* Assists clinic staff with administrative needs
* Maintains patient information and documentation in electronic medical record
* Abides by organizational and HIPAA guidelines, privacy practices, patient confidentiality, and patient rights
* Supports hospital and departmental performance improvement goals
* Supports quality care through compliance with departmental and organizational policies and guidelines, and external agency guidelines, standards, or regulations
* Supports departmental initiatives and change efforts
* Practices financial and resource stewardship
* Engages in strong communication, acts as team player in supporting mission and vision of organization, and abides by organization’s core values
* Additional duties as assigned#
** Required Skills/Abilities
*** Bachelor’s degree in an athletic training program or related field required
* National Athletic Trainer’s Association certification required
* License in the state of Texas required
* BLS required
* Minimum 1-2 years of experience preferred
