Job Summary And Qualifications

The Director of Women’s and Children’s Service is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating and directing all functions of the department to support the mission, vision and values of Medical City Frisco and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing. You will advocate for nursing staff, support patient safety, improve processes, manage finances, promote teamwork and integrate services into the organization’s overall plan for care delivery.

Position

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate department services with hospital’s primary function.
  • Develop and implement policies that guide support of services.
  • Place patient safety as the primary goal of all department services.
  • Exercise independent judgment within interdisciplinary patient care.
  • Provide care, treatment and services within a synergy framework.
  • Delegate tasks to meet patient needs and employee skills.
  • Plan, implement, revise and delegate nursing care with patient safety as primary goal.
  • Recommend sufficient qualified staff to support services.
  • Determine qualifications and competence of personnel.
  • Continuously assess and improve department performance.
  • Maintain quality control programs.
  • Provide orientation, in-service training, continuing education and development of staff.
  • Recommend space and resources needed for services.
  • Identify and select outside sources for needed services.
  • Promote self and staff health promotion and educational community activities.
  • Participate in professional practice development, committees, projects and staff meetings.
  • Actively participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Participate in business development and outreach.
Education

BSN required. Master’s degree in Nursing or related field or other appropriate post Graduate Degree required.

Licensure / Certification / Registration
  • Texas State RN License or compact license required.
  • National Specialty Certification required.
  • AHA BLS required.
Experience

10 years nursing, 5 years management experience.
