We are looking for an experienced service writer, ready to hit the ground running on day 1. The position will be the main go-between for the technicians and customers and will be the 'customers advocate' in the shop. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for customers seeking automotive services, ensuring their needs are met with professionalism and care.
- Greet customers promptly and professionally, assessing their automotive service needs.
- Provide detailed explanations of services, including oil changes, alignments, and other routine maintenance tasks.
- Create service orders and write up repair orders accurately, ensuring clear communication of customer concerns to the service team.
- Utilize automotive diagnostics to identify issues and recommend appropriate repairs or maintenance services.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of automotive repair processes and service management practices.
- Follow up with customers regarding their vehicle status, ensuring they are informed throughout the service process.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints with a focus on providing exceptional service and resolution.
- Collaborate with mechanics and technicians to ensure timely completion of services while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Understand and work with profitability reports.
- Experience working in automotive repair and customer service.
- Knowledge of automotive repair processes.
- Experience with service writing and auto service management software is a plus. Let us know what shop management software you have worked with in the past.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to customers.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

Bottom line, we are looking for a service writer with experience, that can sell with ethics. We need someone that is familiar enough with auto repair to write estimates with proper labor times and parts. We need someone that can and will keep customers updated about progress on repairs, and can make follow-up calls with customers. Someone already familiar with Tekmetric is a big plus, bilingual is a plus, and while lots of jobs describe as fast paced, we mean it.
The position spends their day on the computer, on the phone, talking to techs and customers in person, and will surely never be bored. Also, there is a cat in the office, and he stays.
