Director of Payroll

Responsibilities- Ensure payroll is delivered in compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Take incoming calls and promote positive public relations between the school and community.
- Receive and process mail regarding the Payroll Department.
- Prepare payroll forms using a personal computer.
- Maintain department files.
- Perform payroll data entry, initiate and maintain employee records, retrieve archived files, compile data for reports, and inventory and maintain payroll files and forms.
- Communicate with other departments and campuses to ensure the accuracy of the information reported; resolve payroll problems and inquiries.
- Respond to requests from financial institutions regarding verification of employment.
- Calculate payroll adjustments as necessary.
- Work with campuses and departments to process daily absence reports.
- Work in cooperation with the Benefits Department to get information regarding the Sick Leave Bank and maintain all information in the financial software, timekeeping system, and substitute/attendance software.
- Verify employee leave is updated appropriately in financial software.
- Frisco ISD retains the right to adjust the responsibilities and assignments of all positions as needed to meet the needs of the District.

- High school diploma or GED
- Some college preferred
- Knowledge of substitute and employee attendance systems
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Ability to prioritize workflow and work well under time constraints and with interruptions
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
- Knowledge of payroll accounting and auditing principles
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in keyboarding and file maintenance
- Ability to work with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner
- Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and word processing
- Minimum of two years of payroll experience preferred
Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds). Prolonged use of computer. May work prolonged or irregular hours.
