Senior Accountant

Overview

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Senior Accountant will play an important role in managing the accounting activities across several legal entities within a financial services firm. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing key parts of the monthly and quarterly close, guiding the financial statement consolidation processes, aligning financial reporting with internal accounting policies, and maintaining accuracy, transparency, and quality through work performance.

Functions
  • Take initiative, exercise discretion and authority in performing accounting operational and reporting tasks in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Display strong analytical skills and attention to detail when performing weekly, monthly and quarterly accounting and financial responsibilities, while following financial policies.
  • Collaborate with team members to prepare, analyze and present reports, schedules, analysis and reconciliations accurately, completely and timely.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Perform monthly and quarterly financial consolidations, including intercompany eliminations and reconciliation activities.
  • Prepare and review consolidated financial statements, supporting schedules, and meaningful variance analyses.
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure accuracy across multiple entities.
  • Support consistency in our chart of accounts and ensure robust segment reporting and entity‑level classifications.
  • Collaborate in month‑end and year‑end close processes while helping drive ongoing improvements.
  • Assist with management reporting (including KPIs) and help prepare materials for executive review.
  • Support compliance with internal accounting policies and contribute to refining our procedures as we grow.
  • Work closely with teams across the company to resolve accounting issues and improve reporting quality.
  • Help automate recurring tasks—such as reconciliations, roll‑forwards, and consolidation adjustments—to streamline our workflows.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 5–7 years of accounting experience, including multi‑entity consolidation and general ledger ownership.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP with ability to research and apply guidance to complex transactions.
  • Proficient in advanced Microsoft Excel and experience with general ledger consolidation and ERP systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a plus.
  • CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
  • Background in financial services, especially with statutory accounting concepts, is a plus.
  • A collaborative mindset, willingness to jump in where needed, and a positive, team‑oriented attitude.
Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing may be required.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full‑time, exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed based on management’s approval. The ability to work remotely is allowed based on management’s approval.

Compensation

Minimum: $85,000.00 - Maximum: $92,000.00
