Permanent Radiology Assistant – Full Time (Part Time Considered)

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and dynamic Radiology Department as part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team

The Role

You will play a vital part in supporting Radiologists and Radiographers with a wide range of radiological procedures, including Ultrasound and CT
. There are excellent opportunities for learning and development, with exposure to other areas of the department as your skills grow.

Main duties of the job
  • To support the work of the Radiology Department across all sites;
    Wexham Park Hospital (Slough), Heatherwood Elective Centre (Ascot), St Mark’s Hospital (Maidenhead), King Edward VII Hospital (Windsor) and the Slough Community Diagnostic Centre at Upton Hospital.
  • To assist radiologists and radiographers in performing a range of Radiological procedures, including Ultrasound, X‑ray examinations, MRI and CT.
  • To assist in all aspects of patient care within the Radiology department.
  • To assist with housekeeping duties i.e., cleaning specialist equipment.
  • To input accurate patient data into the Electronic Patient Record (EPIC) and DR/CR system in a timely manner.
  • To make up slides of biopsy samples for microscopic examination by Histology/Pathology.
  • The post holder will be expected to work at all sites across FHFT North Radiology:
    Wexham Park Hospital (Slough), Heatherwood Elective Centre (Ascot), St Mark’s (Maidenhead), King Edward VII Hospital (Windsor) and the newly opening Slough CDC at Upton Hospital.
  • Commitment to shift work over a 7‑day period.
Qualifications
  • Essential criteria: GCSE or NVQ Level 2 Maths & English or equivalent
  • Desirable criteria: NVQ in Care or equivalent relevant caring experience
Experience
  • Essential criteria:
    Previous reception duties.
  • Customer care/dealing with the public face to face or by telephone.
  • Desirable criteria:
    Previous experience of X‑Rays and Radiological procedures.
  • Previous experience in a similar post or dealing with the public in a caring environment.
Skills
  • Ability to work in a Team.
  • Ability to manage own workload.
  • Be able to work to strict deadlines in a busy clinical environment.
  • Able to communicate with a wide range of people.
  • To be able to talk to patients and listen empathetically whilst working in a busy clinical environment.
