Overview
Under direct supervision, performs maintenance on agency fleet and contracted fleet. Diagnoses mechanical malfunctions and conducts routine preventative maintenance checks and/or repairs. Maintains service records and accurate log of all work performed.
Responsibilities- Performs repairs, adjustments, and overhauls on all aspects of light and medium duty automotive equipment including air conditioning systems and wheelchair lifts such as RICON and BRON.
- Diagnoses equipment/vehicle malfunctions and performs preventive maintenance checks.
- Drives agency-owned and contract fleet commercial vehicles for service, repair testing, and emergency calls to drivers.
- Required to go on road calls for vehicle breakdowns.
- Provide routine inspections of vehicles and inform clients of any issues.
- Maintains service records and keeps an accurate log of all work performed.
- Uses personal hand tools to perform standard maintenance repairs.
- Travels for agency business using reliable transportation.
- Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
- Works evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Automotive training certifications a plus.
- Minimum of three years’ relevant work experience, demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of this job.
- Working knowledge of: methods, materials, tools, equipment and techniques used in the repair and maintenance of light and medium duty automotive equipment;
- Occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade;
- Diagnosing malfunctions and making repairs to all aspects of light and medium duty automotive equipment including air conditioning systems and wheelchair lifts such as RICON and BRON.
- Use and operation of tools, machinery and specialized equipment engaged in automotive repair.
Prefer possession of a valid California Class B driver’s license, acceptable driving record, reliable transportation, and adequate auto insurance as required by state law. Should applicant not hold a Class B license they must be able to obtain a valid Class B license within 6 months of hire date.
Understands that employee (not agency) is responsible for providing personal hand tools to perform the essential functions and duties of this position.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Willing to work non-traditional hours and days to meet the needs of this position.
Pass required drug and alcohol testing prior to employment. Will be subject to continual urine and breath alcohol testing throughout employment.
Maintain valid California driver's license and the minimum auto insurance as required by state law, or reliable transportation. For those driving agency vehicles, must maintain insurability under agency policy.

Employee must have the ability to work in an outdoor environment with a majority of standing work.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, with a majority of standing work. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
