Field/Service Technician
Meteorology is an important aspect of the wind energy generation industry. Big Stone Renewables has been working in this field for about 15 years and has an established clientele throughout the country. We perform the highest quality work in the industry with a flawless safety record. From the deserts of Southern California to the prairies of Montana you can be a part of an exciting and growing industry.
Big Stone is a family business, you'll be working directly with the owner managing projects and completing work together.
The company is based in Central California, but you can be based wherever you live and mobilize to the sites when needed. The mobilization typically lasts about a week at a time.
The role will be to assist the owner in field work in various locations around the country. We typically perform work in California, Oregon, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Wyoming, Montana, and various midwest states throughout the year. You will be the right hand person of the owner himself working together to complete the jobs. Expect to make $65/hr with lots of time off to recover and enjoy your personal life between jobs.
For a typical year this will equal out to about $45k-80K annually.
A typical job would be some prep work beforehand, travel out to the job, stay in hotels/Air B n B's while performing the work and travel back to our respective locations. There will be a mix of driving and flying to mobilize to the site. Each job typically only lasts a few days so we rarely work on weekends, usually we get back in time to still have fun on the weekends.
Travel hours to and from the jobs is compensated at the same rate as any other category of work such as site hours.
No fixed per diem, we just bill everything directly to the client so all your expenses will be covered from travel expenses to tools and PPE. No out of pocket expenses. We can typically budget for decent hotels, and good meals to make life on the road more pleasant and sustainable.
It's a great job to be able to have freedom and control over your schedule, travel the country and do good work that helps a green and sustainable industry grow!
