Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide best‑in‑class guest service: promptly greet guests, respond to guest questions and concerns, assist with gameplay needs, inform about promotions, recommend additional items, apply selling behaviors throughout each transaction, and thank every guest.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Promptly and accurately process guest purchases and returns using the Point‑of‑Sale (POS) computer system.
- Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; answer calls courteously and professionally.
- Promote Game Stop’s unique guest benefits, including new title reservations, trade‑in, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training associates in all aspects of job responsibilities.
- Observe associate performance, provide feedback to the Store Manager, and address unsatisfactory performance.
- Provide timely recognition and feedback to all associates; record written feedback in Workday or HR system.
- Ensure all associates have completed onboarding, job training, and compliance training before opening or closing a shift.
- In partnership with the Store Manager, schedule associates and supervise staffing levels.
- Approve payroll, enter paid time off, make time edits, and verify that associates are paid for all time worked.
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per company guidelines.
- Ensure Omni‑Channel orders are fulfilled and shipped daily.
- Protect company assets through inventory control, loss prevention practices, and bank deposit procedures.
- Support the store team in meeting and exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals.
- Perform inventory counts, stock/restock merchandise, and organize products on the sales floor.
- Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transaction totals correctly and accurately.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies and record any discrepancies in the POS system.
- Process defectives and recalls accurately and promptly.
- Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety; report injuries promptly.
- Assist in maintaining store records/files in a neat and organized manner.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Adhere to Game Stop policies, procedures, and the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Follow all opening and closing procedures.
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or accredited bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or a related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.
