The Full Time Person in Charge performs management-assigned duties, including receiving inventory, stocking and maintaining a store section, operating a cash register, custom carry-out services, and store cleaning. In addition, assists the store manager in daily operations in the absence of upper-management, helps supervise associates, and performs basic bookkeeping duties.

• Carry store keys to open and/or operate the front entry/exit doors, office, rollup door and register.
• Assist the store manager in the management of daily store operations in the absence of upper management.
• Help supervise associates in the performance of their assigned duties and performs basic bookkeeping duties.
• Maintain a store section, as assigned. Order, receive, and stock merchandise using proper equipment. Review invoices/bills for accuracy. Stock shelves, end stacks, displays and deli/freezer cases. Set up advertising/promotional displays. Mark prices on merchandise.
• Operate a cash register, receive cash from customers, make change and process check/charge transactions. Review price/order books, price changes, advertisement forms and direct vendor pricing information. Give cash and/or credit refunds, when approved by management. Verify customer eligibility when selling cigarettes and/or alcoholic beverages.
• Offer friendly, courteous assistance to customers by providing current store and product information. When requested, load customer purchases into cartons and assist customers to their vehicles.
• Perform basic bookkeeping duties. Record lost/damaged goods and store supplies using appropriate ledger. Perform check out function at the end of each business day. Post information on Direct Purchase Register and/or RMIA and collect data.

One to three (1-3) years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Retail Management Certificate is desirable. PC skills preferred.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. Frequently required to walk and climb or balance. Occasionally required to stand and taste or smell. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 45 pounds, and occasionally up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required: close vision, and distance vision.

Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and extreme cold. The noise level is usually moderate.
