Position OverviewUltimate Staffing is actively seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join their client's esteemed university in California. This role involves managing and directing financial and accounting activities in alignment with generally accepted accounting principles, federal/state regulations, and university policies. The successful candidate will work closely with the Vice President for Finance and Business Affairs and other directors to ensure the seamless operation of the Business Office.
Responsibilities- Oversee the preparation of financial and tax reports.
- Collaborate with the Director of Budgeting and Internal Reporting to develop an online fiscal policy handbook.
- Supervise staffing in the Business Office, ensuring timely recording of all financial transactions in accordance with GAAP.
- Provide accurate and timely reports on campus financial conditions.
- Maintain and administer the university's financial accounting systems.
- Supervise the monthly closing of the general ledger and coordinate year-end financial closing and audit activities.
- Perform special and ad-hoc projects as assigned by the Vice President.
- Demonstrate a commitment to serving and inspiring students and colleagues in a Christian university context.
- Communicate clearly, collaborate productively, and complete tasks timely with comprehensive, complete, and accurate work.
- Other job duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant.
- Minimum of five years managerial/supervisory experience in an accounting department within an educational institution.
- Preferred:
Master’s degree or MBA, understanding of fund accounting, and experience with Ellucian Colleague.
- Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes at least eighty percent (80%) of the time.
- Frequent computer use at a workstation, up to eight hours per day, and occasional travel for meetings and events.
- Position functions indoors with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment.
- Regularly required to remain stationary 80% of the time, move about inside the office, and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
