Compensation: $80,000 – $100,000 annually (depending on experience and qualifications)

Job Summary
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for performing a wide variety of HR-related duties focused on talent management and retention. This role partners with assigned operating companies to provide HR services in orientation/onboarding, culture, engagement, leadership development, performance management, workforce planning, coaching, employee relations, and compliance.
This position specifically supports operations in California and requires demonstrated experience with California employment law and HR practices. The HRBP plays a key role in fostering a positive workplace culture and ensuring compliance with California’s complex labor regulations.
Essential Functions
- Collaborate with operating company management/leadership on workforce planning and organizational structure needs in alignment with strategic goals and California labor standards.
- Serve as an internal coach for leadership, employees, peers, and team.
- Manage talent development, performance management, and learning/training needs, ensuring alignment with California-specific legal requirements.
- Partner with operating companies on engagement efforts, performance coaching, and employee development.
- Cultivate and lead a positive culture through coaching and continuous demonstration of company values.
- Handle employee relations issues, conduct investigations, and deliver corrective actions in accordance with California employment law, including FEHA and wage/hour regulations.
- Monitor federal, state, and local employment law changes, with a focus on California legislation.
- Coach and mentor other HR team members.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature as required.
Position Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- SHRM‑SCP, SHRM‑CP, or HRCI (SPHR, PHR, etc.) certification preferred.
- SHRM California Law HR Specialty Credential is a plus.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist or business partner capacity.
- Direct HR experience in California, with strong knowledge of California employment law, compliance, and HR best practices.
- Experience with Paycor is a plus.
Additional Requirements
- Bilingual in Spanish, preferred.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize demands effectively.
- Ability to travel to multiple locations across California.
- Ability to work in a multi‑company environment.
- Keen attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Strong project management, time management, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate California-specific HR challenges, including wage and hour laws, leave policies, and workplace regulations.
