Licensed Mental Health Therapist (Part-Time)

Responsibilities
  • Provide mental health services to students, including assessment and brief mental health therapy
  • Provide effective short‑term therapy to students in individual and group settings, to address mental health concerns, emotional wellness, and substance abuse issues
  • Provide crisis support or intervention to students in distress and conduct crisis interventions and assessments as needed
  • Case‑management: referral to campus and community resources to secure student basic needs and ensure continuity of therapeutic care
  • Develop and maintain confidential notes and records in accordance with applicable standards of practice and federal/state laws and regulations
  • Develop and provide equity‑minded professional development workshops and programs to foster positive mental health that enhances students’ abilities to benefit from college, including anger management, conflict resolution, domestic violence and communication skills
  • Conduct effective outreach and programming, and culturally relevant approaches to mental health services, including strategies and activities that foster student wellness and campus safety, such as outreach and prevention events and services
  • Work assignments in a variety of settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, online or off‑campus and large group counseling sessions as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family, and child counseling
  • A valid Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker for at least two years
  • Three years of mental health counseling and crisis intervention experience
  • A valid California Community College Credential is acceptable. Applicants who possess this credential must also meet the above requirements
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience and skill incorporating elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility
  • Recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students and an understanding of historical patterns of exclusion in higher education
  • Willingness to examine and remediate one’s practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students
  • Related work and professional experience
  • Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, students with disabilities
