• This position is responsible for processing all release of information (ROI), specifically medical record requests, in a timely and efficient manner with accuracy and high-quality customer service. Safeguard patient privacy by ensuring access is limited to authorized individuals and releases comply with requests, authorization, company policy, and HIPAA regulations. This position travels 75% or more of the time. This is an intermediate level position with at least 1 year related HIM experience.
• Front desk processing of medical records requests.
• Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with Company and Facility policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and security with all privileged information.
• Maintain working knowledge of company and facility software; adhere to Code of Conduct and policies.
• Inform manager of work, site difficulties, and/or fluctuating volumes; assist with additional duties as required.
• Ensure consistent application of medical privacy regulations to guard against unauthorized disclosure.
• Manage patient health records and safeguard patient records in compliance with HIPAA standards.
• Prepare new patient charts, gather documents, and assemble medical records in standard order; create digital images for the electronic medical record.
• Respond to requests for patient records from internal and external sources; handle inbound/outbound calls; may assist with patient walk-ins and administrative duties (faxes, mail, data entry).
• Assist with training associates in the HIS I position; generate reports as directed; participate in project teams to advance operational initiatives; may act in a lead role for staff inquiries and training.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED; must be 18 years of age or older.
• Able to travel locally/regionally 75% or more; ability to commute between locations as needed; overtime during peak seasons.
• 1 year Health Information related experience; meets or exceeds productivity standards; basic computer proficiency.
• Strong data entry, typing, and accuracy; comfortable using phones, fax, printers, and other office equipment.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English; ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Medical office experience preferred; willingness to learn and grow within Datavant.

• Previous production/metric-based work experience.
• In-person customer service experience; ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers.
• Ability to contribute ideas for process improvements and provide feedback to stakeholders.

Pay ranges for this job title may differ based on location, responsibilities, skills, experience, and other requirements of the role. The estimated base pay range per hour for this role is: $16.90 — $22 USD.
