Job Title
Communications Dispatcher I – The Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator's Office invites applications for this position. The incumbent works in the communication center, receives and responds to emergency calls by telephone or radio, keys data into a computer, dispatches law enforcement personnel, refers calls according to policy, and monitors the location and activity of field units at all times.
Shift WorkApplicants must be available for a 24‑hour, 7‑day operation, willing to work overtime and shifts as assigned, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications- Education
: 30 semester units from an accredited U.S. college or university. - Experience
:
One full‑time year of paid work using telecommunications equipment and a computer. - Certificate
:
Completion of a Public Safety Dispatcher's Basic Course certified by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. Attach a copy of the certificate.
Other requirements: ability to type 35 net words per minute.
Certification to Communications Dispatcher II must be achieved within two years or the provisional appointment will be rejected.

All selected candidates must undergo a comprehensive background, medical, and polygraph or Computer Voice Stress Analysis examination.
