Position OverviewWe are looking for an Environmental Compliance Specialist I to support environmental compliance efforts on a variety of infrastructure and renewable energy projects. In this role, you will assist with regulatory research, field monitoring, data collection, and report preparation while helping ensure projects comply with applicable environmental laws and regulations.

How You’ll Make An ImpactProjects may include utility‑scale solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transmission and linear infrastructure, transportation, and water development projects. Working closely with senior staff and multidisciplinary teams, the Environmental Compliance Specialist I will gain hands‑on experience supporting construction and operations‑phase compliance and contribute to delivering high‑quality consulting services in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment.
Duties And ResponsibilitiesRegulatory Compliance and Permitting
- Assists in researching and interpreting environmental regulations and policies to support project compliance.
- Helps prepare and submit permit applications, compliance reports, and environmental documentation.
- Supports project teams in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws (e.g., National Environmental Policy Act [NEPA], California Environmental Quality Act [CEQA], Clean Water Act [CWA], Clean Air Act [CAA]).
Field Monitoring and Data Collection
- Conducts site visits and field assessments to monitor environmental conditions and ensure regulatory adherence.
- Collects and analyzes environmental data related to air, water, and soil quality.
- Assists in implementing best management practices (BMPs) for erosion control, stormwater management, and other environmental protections.
Reporting and Documentation
- Assists in preparing technical reports, impact assessments, and compliance audits.
- Maintains and organizes environmental records, monitoring logs, and field notes.
- Supports teams with environmental impact mitigation planning and tracking.
Project Coordination and Communication
- Supports coordination efforts with regulatory agencies, project managers, and field teams to ensure smooth compliance workflows.
- Participates in team meetings and project discussions to provide regulatory insight.
- Assists in responding to compliance‑related inquiries and project needs.
Professional Development and Industry Engagement
- Stays up to date on environmental policies, industry trends, and best practices.
- Participates in training programs, workshops, and professional organizations.
- Seeks mentorship and learning opportunities to advance technical knowledge and compliance expertise.
- 1+ years’ experience in environmental compliance, regulatory assessments, or permitting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or a related life sciences field required.
