This Maintenance Transportation Engineer (Civil) position is within the Department of Transportation, District 6 Maintenance Program. The incumbent reports to a Senior Transportation Engineer and executes a breadth of engineering duties in support of the district’s maintenance mission.

• Perform field reviews, acquire field data, identify and locate distressed pavement.
• Participate in Project Development Team meetings.
• Develop strategies for preparing plans, specifications, cost estimates, written documents, presentations, and other related deliverables.
• Support the management of the Department’s assets (roadways, drainage systems, bridges, safety, facilities, etc.).
• Review project packages for completeness, compliance with standards, and readiness for advertisement.

The position is located at 1352 W Olive Avenue, Fresno County. Duties require working both in an office and in field settings, including driving shoulder vehicles, marking pavement for design and construction purposes under live traffic, driving for long periods, inspecting construction projects, and possibly working overnight stays or hours outside of normal working hours. Telework may be permitted at the discretion of the Department.

• Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
• Special Requirements for other ranges: a PE license is not required.
