Job description
The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 - $140,000 depending upon experience.

TPZP is seeking a Field Engineer for the project office in Fresno, CA
.
The California High‑Speed Rail Authority’s Construction Package 1 (CP1) is the first significant construction contract executed on the Initial Operating Section of the High‑Speed Rail project in California’s Central Valley.
The CP1 construction area is a 32‑mile stretch between Avenue 19 in Madera County to East American Avenue in Fresno County, including major work elements in downtown Fresno. It includes 12 roadway/railroad grade separations, two mainline viaducts, one tunnel, realignments of existing railroad tracks, utility relocations, roadway relocations, two trench sections, and a major river crossing over the San Joaquin River.

, you will have the opportunity to:
- Review project plans and develop a construction schedule in coordination with project‑wide activities.
- Coordinate with subcontractors on advance material acquisitions and pre‑construction deliverables.
- Develop/assist with obtaining quotes and draft contracts to meet project requirements.
- Prepare construction work‑plan packages and coordinate pre‑construction meetings while ensuring that all prerequisites to start construction activities are identified and completed.
- Prepare, update and distribute work activity schedules/updates, and communicate across discipline groups and agencies to ensure proper advance notifications and coordination of start times.
- Monitor and participate daily in the field construction process. Provide layout checks and technical reviews of work against requirements. Obtain confirmations from the design engineer as needed.
- Assist with subcontract administration and permanent material suppliers through monitoring correspondence, submittals, RFIs and performance records; maintain accurate payment records.
- Assist in preparing monthly reporting for progress payments, schedule updates, and problem/issue tracking and resolution. Provide accurate and factual assessments of project performance.
- Participate in change orders and claims management.
- Develop and manage relationships with owners, subcontractors, consultants and field personnel.
- Maintain a safe, clean and productive environment by enforcing procedures.
- Maintain project integrity and reputation through compliance with high standards of workplace safety and construction best practices.
- Identify and resolve changing site conditions or other impacts during planning of the work.
- Coordinate and attend pre‑bid and construction meetings.
- Develop quality checks and coordinate permits from appropriate entities.
- Assist in preparing crossing applications and work plans, assuring quality control by subcontractor.
- Manage and submit project close‑out in coordination with the client and third parties.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited institution.
- 5 or more years of construction experience as a field or project engineer on heavy civil projects.
- Knowledge of construction safety and current federal & OSHA requirements.
- Project controls techniques (i.e., cost accounting, basic estimating, forecasting, and contracts).
- A strong working knowledge of critical path method and resource scheduling is preferred.
- Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office;
Primavera P6 is a plus. - Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
- Strong work ethic – highly motivated and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
