Position Details

Title: Project Engineer
Reports to: Pre-Construction Manager
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Overtime as needed)
Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt, Full-Time
Work Location: On-site
Starting Pay: $25.00 per hour, DOE

Summary

Project Engineer will work closely with the Project Manager to ensure that all submittals, documentation, coordination, and materials for all projects are completed in an organized, timely and efficient manner. The candidate must have excellent customer service and represent core values in all execution of their job.

Role and Responsibilities

Coordinate between Project Manager and Estimators regarding all project hand‑offs.

Prepare meeting minutes for all project hand‑offs, field coordination and pre‑construction & post‑construction meetings.

Prepare and track submittals and re‑submittals.

Produce shop drawings and fabrication drawings for all projects.

Review the manufacturer’s shop drawings to ensure they meet the project specifications.

Request vendor quotes and lead times for all projects.

Review all updated project plans and specs and identify any scope changes. Communicate any changes to the Project Manager.

Provide project team contact list to General Contractor for every new project awarded.

Maintain job files as directed by the Project Manager.

Prepare RFIs throughout the life cycle of the project.

Attend all project coordination meetings and production/project status meetings as required and prepare meeting minutes.

Act as a liaison with vendors for material ordering, delivery coordination and paperwork.

Assist with crane pick plans as required for the project.

Review and understand scopes for all projects to assist in better field coordination meetings with other trades.

Assist Project Manager in material ordering as needed.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Associate degree (A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Skills

AutoCAD skills – navigate and understand commands to produce shop drawings.

Computer Skills

Ability to navigate computer programs, files, and the internet efficiently and effectively.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret project specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as converting fractions, measuring area, circumference, and volume; apply basic algebra and geometry; read and understand a tape measure.

Reasoning Abilities

Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization; interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Compensation / Pay Rate

Up to $22.00 – $28.00 per hour.
