Overview
English Instructor (Full-Time, Tenure-Track) – Clovis Community College. The District may fill more than one position from this pool.

Responsibilities / Essential FunctionsProviding instruction in English on the Clovis Community College campus and/or at off-site community campus locations, the instructor will be responsible for:
- Teaching a full schedule of English courses which include transfer-level composition and critical thinking;
- Implementing appropriate practices to develop writing skills at all levels;
- Participating in program development and expansion of English courses, including connections with industry and Guided Pathways;
- Participating in program planning, student-learning-outcome development and assessment to improve student learning;
- Serving on and attending department, college, and district committees as needed;
- Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, online or off-campus and large group instruction classes as needed;
- Otherwise fulfilling all of the duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom; and
- Master’s in English, Literature, Comparative Literature, or Composition; or
- Bachelor’s in any of the above and master’s in Linguistics, TESL, Speech, Education with a specialization in Reading, Creative Writing or Journalism; or
- A valid California Community College Credential; or
- The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).

If your qualifying degree is in Creative Writing and you do not have a bachelor’s degree in English, you will need to petition for equivalency.
- Experience and skill incorporating elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility;
- Recent experience with diverse student populations and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion affect participation and outcomes;
- Experience working with students from varied cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds including students with disabilities;
- Willingness to examine and improve instructional practices to support racially minoritized students;
- Related work and professional experience; and
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and to work with computers and other technologies used in instruction.
Conditions of Employment: 178 duty days per year.
Salary and BenefitsStarting annual salary is $71,054 – $106,970 based on education and experience. An annual doctoral stipend of $2,419 is available. The District offers medical, dental, and vision coverage for the employee and dependents, life insurance, and CalSTRS retirement.
Selection ProcedureApplications will be screened for completeness and to determine minimum qualifications. From the applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and have submitted required documents by the closing date, a selection advisory committee will review and determine who will be invited to interview.
Interviews Tentatively Scheduled: Week of 04/13/26 and 04/20/26. The selection advisory committee will rate responses to interview questions, teaching demonstrations, and writing prompts (if applicable).
