Position SummaryTemporary lecturers will teach courses in Chinese, Hmong, Japanese, English 5A, English 5B, English 10, or Linguistics, and high enrollment general education courses. Part‑time lecturers serve as instructors of record for 3–15 weighted teaching units per semester.
Instructor ResponsibilitiesTemporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to university and system‑wide policies. Instructors prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).
Conditional AppointmentAppointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. Eligibility to work in the United States is required.
CompensationCompensated commensurate with qualifications and experience within the salary range placement. The Temporary Faculty salary range for a Master’s degree is $5,507–6,677 per month for full‑time (15 WTUs). Actual monthly salary is adjusted based on WTUs assigned per term.
Anticipated SemesterThe temporary faculty pool is continuously open and filled as needed. Existing pool positions persist for two academic terms; reapplication is required beyond that time.

August 18 2025 – December 22 2025 - Spring 2026:
January 15 2026 – May 22 2026
- Master’s degree in Linguistics, English, TESL/SLAT, or a related field.
- Commitment to teaching excellence and diversity inclusive practices.
- Prior undergraduate teaching experience with evidence of teaching evaluations.
- Experience teaching courses in Chinese, Hmong, Japanese, or Linguistics.
