The successful candidate will join a department dedicated to the use of a curriculum responsive to the students it serves.
Providing instruction in Human Services on the Fresno City College campus and/or at off-site community campus locations, the instructor will be responsible for:
- Teaching a full range of Human Services courses, including, but not limited to:
Introduction to Social Work and Human Services Seminar, Aging Studies, Elder Care, Child Abuse, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counseling, Work Experience, Social Work and Human Services Fieldwork, Introduction to Social Welfare, Fundamentals of Interviewing and Counseling, Assertiveness Training, Group and Community Social Services, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counseling:
Law and Ethics, Prevention, Education, Outreach and Referral, Introduction to Alcohol and Drug Counseling, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counseling:
Case Management, Drug Use:
Physical and Psychological Effects, and Introduction to Child Welfare; - Developing courses and programs;
- Preparing and maintaining certification in related programs based on accreditation agency standards;
- Maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position and currency in teaching Human Services;
- Assisting with the development and growth of the Social Work and Human Services program;
- Engaging in community outreach to develop relationships with community organizations;
- Working with the Human Services Advisory Committee;
- Developing, coordinating, and monitoring student placements in Human Services field work sites;
- Using a variety of pedagogies and integrating a wide range of instructional delivery systems including innovative and creative uses of technology for face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid formats;
- Using effective teaching methods appropriate to the subject matter, adherence to institutionally approved curriculum course outlines of record;
- Evaluating student progress through tests and examinations, written assignments, and oral responses in keeping with course objectives;
- Providing accurate course syllabi to students;
- Maintaining classroom records in accordance with District Policy;
- Turning in all required student grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner;
- Serving on and attending department, college, and district committees as needed;
- Participating in program review, student learning outcome development, and assessment to improve student learning;
