The successful candidate will join a college dedicated to the students it serves.

Providing instruction in Music on the Madera Community College campus and/or at off-site community campus locations, the instructor will be responsible for:

  • Teaching Music Theory and Musicianship (ear‑training) for undergraduate music majors;
  • Teaching Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Guitar and Piano;
  • Developing and directing a variety of large and small ensembles;
  • Teaching a full range of community college music courses such as music appreciation, History of Rock, History of Jazz or History of Musical Theater;
  • Teaching music in distance education modalities, including hybrid and fully online;
  • Communicating effectively with students and staff;
  • Participating in the Curriculum Development process;
  • Participating in the unit/program planning process;
  • Attending and participating in appropriate professional meetings and workshops;
  • Maintaining currency in the discipline;
  • Working with community and campus organizations;
  • Identifying and recommending potential adjunct faculty to teach classes;
  • Assisting in evaluating adjunct instructors;
  • Serving on and attending department, college, and district committees as needed;
  • Participating in program review, student learning outcome development and assessment to improve student learning;
  • Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, online or off‑campus and large group instruction classes as needed; and
