Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated and driven Dean to join our growing academic/practice partnership team.
Please Note:
This position is located in Fresno, CA. You will be responsible for instructional and management responsibilities for the specified Workforce Development site;
- Provide site supervision of nursing program activities.
- Assist the Dean of Workforce Development with implementing special projects.
Assist the Dean of Workforce Development with planning, developing, managing, updating, and evaluating all aspects of the program including, but not limited to:
- Faculty and staff
- Clinical calendars and matrix
- Blended learning curriculum implementation
- Program compliance with board and/or accreditor rules and regulations; site visits
- Student advocate
- Program policies and procedures
- Faculty and student handbooks
- Maintenance of needed supplies and equipment to meet program objectives
Assist with preparing data and other written materials for all required state and board requirements, reports, proposals, self-studies, surveys, and site visits.
- Maintain on-site student records.
- Collaborate with HR to maintain required faculty and staff documentation.
- Identify need for obtaining outside resources for the nursing program.
- Serve on program committees.
- Assist with the admission process and nursing core orientation.
- Fill in for clinical, skills lab, or simulation lab when vacancies occur.
Assist the Dean of Workforce Development with the following aspects as relates to clinical sites.
- Conduct thorough assessment of the agency's ability to provide clinical experience that meets the objectives for application of theory and clinical course objectives, including analysis of risk, hazards, and safety of all students, and ensuring adequate staffing to handle clinical objectives.
- Meet with clinical faculty or agency educational representative to discuss and confirm number of students, faculty assignments, dates, times, and clinical objectives; complete and forward BRN clinical approval forms prior to initiating clinical rotations.
- Meet monthly with Clinical Partner and Dean of Workforce Development to review clinical operations.
- Act as primary contact for partner human resources for concurrent student/employee disciplinary concerns that may affect program standing.
- Participate with assigned clinical consortium.
- Ensure clinical evaluations are completed in a timely manner by assigned faculty.
- Collect and disseminate semester-end student and clinical site evaluations data to the Dean of Workforce Development.
- Communicate with the Clinical Education Management Department to maintain clinical facility contract updates.
- Maintain minutes of inter-agency meetings.
Participate as a member of the faculty teaching team in preparation and presentation of learning activities within the nursing curriculum.
- Assist with strategic planning and assessment of instructional initiatives to ensure quality of program.
- Utilize principles of teaching that recognize the characteristics of the adult learner.
- Continuously improve instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies and techniques.
- Acquire skills for utilizing online activities as enhancers to course content during interactive teaching and learning.
- Ensure that clinical assignments, clinical rotation matrices and calendars are completed one month prior to start of next rotation.
- Confirm that clinical faculty consistently follow policies and guidelines related to student clinical rotation experience.
- Ensure that student performance in theory and clinical learning objectives and outcomes is documented in a timely manner.
- Provide students with access for ongoing communication through office hours, electronic communication and other methods.
- Provide feedback of clinical performance to students and faculty during facility site visits.
- Review student learning materials and provide input for revision to faculty and at curriculum meetings.
- Oversee completion of student attendance records, skills check-off forms, and program data collection per policies.
- Submit required program reports and forms to the Regional Associate Dean, Workforce Development in a timely manner.
- Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations.
- Participate in student advising activities.
- Participate in committee activities that support the mission and function of the nursing program.
- Attend faculty meetings or delegate as indicated.
- Develop skills lab and clinical site orientation in conjunction with faculty and clinical partner.
