Reporting and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Dean of Students at Reedley College, the Counselor, STEM Pathway will cover a full range of general counseling responsibilities, which include the following:

  • Providing comprehensive counseling services to students, including academic, career, personal and life transitions, and counseling on an appointment and walk‑in basis;
  • Assisting in the organization and implementation of matriculation activities, such as orientation, counseling and follow‑up services to students;
  • Assisting students with major selection, develop student education plans (SEPs), aligned with their educational goals, career, and Guided Pathways;
  • Assisting with Guided Pathways, Student Equity Achievement (SEA), and other student success initiatives;
  • Assisting and collaborating in developing programs and student support services with an emphasis on counseling services that will improve student access to college, increase student retention, and completion rates;
  • Assisting, as needed, with matriculation, student outreach, and recruitment activities in the community and on campus;
  • Providing assistance and referrals to on/off‑campus resources and student support services including Admissions & Records, EOPS, CalWORKs, Career/Transfer & Employment Center, DSP&S, Financial Aid, Academic Success Centers, STEM, TRiO, and off‑campus community resources;
  • Participating in meetings, conferences, trainings, and other professional development activities to maintain the expertise required to provide accurate and reliable information and support to students seeking to complete a certificate, associate degree, or transfer;
  • Providing assistance to new and prospective students with college applications and college orientation;
