Responsibilities
  • Teach a full schedule of developmental and transfer‑level Child Development courses as assigned.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, directing, and supervising the activities and staff of the Child Development Center.
  • Supervise the laboratory experience of child development students in a developmentally appropriate demonstration site environment for preschool and toddler age children.
  • Coordinate student observation and participation.
  • Develop program goals for children, parents, and students.
  • Administer the daily requirements of the Child Development Center.
  • Supervise the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
  • Administer all state, local, and federal categorical grant programs; prepare applications for child‑care funding and early child‑care and education program management.
  • Assure maintenance of a physical environment that conforms to the State Department of Social Services licensing standards of health and safety.
  • Conduct center inspections to assure compliance.
  • Communicate with parents, staff, and administrators related to center operations and student progress.
  • Discuss issues or concerns with parents.
  • Enroll children, maintain appropriate records in compliance with district requirements, licensing regulations, and other legal provisions.
  • Ensure availability of appropriate materials and equipment for staff and children’s use.
  • Learn and apply emerging technologies and advances, such as computer software applications, to perform duties efficiently.
  • Train, supervise, evaluate, and direct the work of the center staff.
  • Coordinate and support relationships for inclusion with collaborating onsite agencies.
  • Coordinate and conduct staff meetings and in‑service training.
  • Assist in the placement, guidance, and supervision of students from instructional programs.
  • Participate in appropriate professional development activities.
  • Participate in institutional activities including staff development.
  • Meet regularly with discipline/division peers.
  • Participate on community advisory committees related to early care and education initiatives.
  • Prepare grant proposals for external funding to support center operations.
  • Serve on and attend department, college, and district committees as needed.
  • Participate in program review, student learning outcome development, and assessment to improve student learning.
  • Teach assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening and/or weekends, online or off‑campus, and large‑group instruction classes; may include off‑campus instruction at local high schools for dual enrollment.
  • Fulfill all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
