Essential Functions of Position

The ideal candidate shares Fresno City College’s commitment to a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population, which comprised 68% Latinx, 11% Asian/Pacific Islander, 4% Black/African American, 14% White, 1% American Indian/Alaska Native, and 2% multiracial students in the 2024‑2025 academic year. The successful candidate will collaborate with the business community, design curricula for developmental and transfer‑level courses, and serve as a mentor and role model for students.

Responsibilities
  • Design and teach a full schedule of developmental and transfer level business administration courses, including business communication, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, human resource management, marketing, and supervisory/management, as assigned.
  • Advance student learning through effective, dedicated, exemplary instruction according to approved course outlines.
  • Engage in professional development and maintain current knowledge in business and business education.
  • Develop and maintain communications with representatives of the business community and build advisory groups.
  • Facilitate student internships and job opportunities through partnerships with local and regional businesses.
  • Assist with the selection, development, and assessment of adjunct faculty.
  • Maintain professional conduct and ethics.
  • Participate in faculty functions related to educational programs, in‑service programs, governance, and professional development.
  • Plan, organize, and independently carry out instructional and non‑instructional assignments.
  • Coordinate the development of courses for delivery via distance education.
  • Prepare syllabi, maintain office hours for academic advising, and confer with students on course work.
  • Engage in public service related to one’s professional status and/or expertise.
  • Serve on committees as needed and participate in program review, student learning outcome development, and assessment.
  • Teach in a variety of instructional settings and times, including evening, weekends, online, off‑campus, large‑group classes, and dual‑enrollment at local high schools.
  • Perform all other duties required by Administrative Regulation 7122 and those assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and an understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, with an emphasis on equity‑mindful practice in the classroom.

  • Master’s degree in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing, or business education; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the above, plus a Master’s in economics, personnel management, public administration, J.D., or LL.B.; or
  • A valid California Community College Credential; or
  • Equivalent education and/or experience (requires equivalency petition).
