Responsibilities- Determine qualifications and appropriate individual support programs for students with disabilities, providing direct personal, vocational, and academic counseling services;
- Meet with faculty and other academic staff to support individual student education plans;
- Provide liaison services between students, faculty, staff, and campus/community support systems;
- Facilitate accommodations by making service referrals for students with physical, learning, and psychological disabilities;
- Document educational limitations and accommodations for students in the DSP&S program;
- Assist students in clarifying goals, developing educational plans and contracts, and selecting courses to meet objectives;
- Conduct student follow‑up, monitor progress and academic standing, and oversee accommodations and student needs;
- Assist students with disabilities in transitioning to and succeeding in the college environment;
- Maximize student success by collaborating with student services and instructional faculty;
- Develop and maintain competency regarding knowledge of College programs, services, policies and procedures;
- Use and stay up‑to‑date with advanced counseling methods, including technology;
- Organize and offer support groups, instruction, and programs for students with disabilities;
- Interpret diagnostic test results for students, counselors, and parents where applicable;
- Perform other related duties as requested;
- Participate in participatory governance committees, processes, and initiatives such as Guided Pathways;
- Serve on and attend department, college, and district committees as needed;
- Participate in program review, student learning outcome development, and assessment to improve student learning;
- Assigned duties in a variety of settings and times, including evenings, weekends, online or off‑campus, and large‑group instruction classes as needed;
- Fulfill all duties and responsibilities as assigned and required by Administrative Regulation 7122.
- Evident responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students and the need for equity‑minded practices;
- (1) Master’s in rehabilitation counseling, or
- (2) Master’s in counseling (guidance, student personnel, clinical or counseling psychology, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or a bachelor’s degree in marriage and family therapy with an MFT license), and:
- Fifteen or more upper‑division semester units in graduate‑level coursework related to people with disabilities, or
- Completion of six semester units (or equivalent) in a post‑secondary Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) Program or a program focusing on people with disabilities, or
- Two years of full‑time experience (or…
