Responsibilities

Providing instruction in Agriculture for Reedley College, the instructor will be responsible for:

  • Teaching a part-time schedule of Agriculture courses as assigned;
  • Using a variety of pedagogies and instructional delivery systems, including technology-enabled formats for face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid formats;
  • Communicating effectively with students, faculty and staff;
  • Applying effective teaching methods appropriate to the subject matter and adhering to institutionally approved curriculum outlines of record;
  • Evaluating student progress through tests, examinations, written assignments, oral responses, etc., in keeping with course objectives;
  • Providing course syllabi to students;
  • Maintaining classroom records in accordance with District Policy;
  • Turning in all required student grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner;
  • Teaching assignments in a variety of instructional settings and times, including classes as needed;
  • Fulfilling all duties and responsibilities of instructors as required by Administrative Regulation 7122;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to equity-minded practice within the classroom.

  • Master’s in agriculture, agriculture science, education with a specialization in agriculture or other agricultural area (including: agricultural business, agricultural engineering, agricultural mechanics, agronomy, animal science, enology, environmental horticulture, equine science, forestry, natural resources, plant science, pomology, soil science, viticulture or other agriculture science);
  • A valid California Community College Credential; or
  • The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).

Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience and skill incorporating elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility;
  • Recent experience working with racially minoritized students and understanding historical patterns of exclusion in higher education;
  • Willingness to examine and remediate instructional practices to engage and support racially minoritized students;
