The ideal candidate will value placing the student at the center of all work, mentorship, and a collegial, collaborative environment. The candidate should participate in culturally relevant professional development to prepare for the student population served by Madera Community College.
ResponsibilitiesThe instructor will provide instruction in Education at the Madera Community College at Oakhurst Campus and/or off-site locations.
Responsibilities include:
- Teaching a part-time schedule of Education courses as assigned;
- Using a variety of pedagogies and instructional delivery systems, including technology-enabled formats for face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid formats;
- Communicating effectively with students, faculty and staff;
- Using effective teaching methods appropriate to the subject matter and adhering to approved curriculum outlines of record;
- Evaluating student progress through tests, examinations, assignments, and other assessments in line with course objectives;
- Providing course syllabi to students;
- Maintaining classroom records in accordance with District Policy;
- Submitting required grading and evaluation reports in a timely manner;
- Teaching assignments across various instructional settings and times as needed;
- Fulfilling all duties required of instructors as per Administrative Regulation 7122;
- Other duties as assigned.
All candidates must demonstrate responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community college students and equity-minded practices.
- Master’s in Education; or
- A valid California Community College Credential; or
- The equivalent education and/or experience (equivalency required).

- Experience integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion into responsibilities;
- Experience with racially minoritized students and understanding of exclusion patterns in higher education;
- Willingness to examine and improve instructional practices to engage racially minoritized students;
- Experience working with students from diverse cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds;
- Experience supporting underrepresented student populations and foster youth;
- Experience in multicultural and cross-cultural communication with sensitivity to diverse backgrounds;
- Experience with, and sensitivity to, under-prepared and high-need students;
- Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance instruction, curriculum, and student success;
- Proficiency with computers and technologies used in instruction and student support;
- Effective communication with students and staff;
- Knowledge of current assessment methods and community college mission and goals.
- Newly hired part-time faculty will be placed on step one (1) of the Part-Time Faculty Salary Schedule.
