The successful candidate will join a department dedicated to the use of a curriculum responsive to the students it serves.

This position reports to the Dean of Student Services, Counseling, and will be responsible for a full range of counseling services with individuals and groups. The Counselor, Early College will:

  • Provide the total range of community college counseling services, including career and educational planning, orientation, assessment interpretation, transfer, student outreach and personal counseling;
  • Assist students in the development of a student education plan (SEP);
  • Plan and conduct multi‑media classroom presentations and large presentations;
  • Implement retention strategies;
  • Integrate technology into counseling functions;
  • Work collaboratively with faculty members, counselors, staff, and administration;
  • Assist in the building of collaborative relationships with college faculty and high schools;
  • Provide information on the college and promote academic pathways on behalf of the college;
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate a variety of services, projects, and pathway maps for K‑12 partner districts;
  • Provide leadership in program plans directed towards college degrees earned and transfer‑readiness;
  • Maintain strong communication and procedural channels throughout the campus and K‑12 partner districts congruent with the goals and objectives of the Early College Office;
  • Provide counseling assistance and referrals for college resources and student support services including Admissions & Records, EOPS, CalWORKs, Career/Transfer & Employment Center, DSP&S, Financial Aid, Starfish‑Early Alert, Academic Success Centers, STEM, TRiO, and off‑campus community‑based resources;
