OverviewThe Department of Philosophy at California State University, Fresno invites applicants for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position beginning Fall 2026. Candidates will teach undergraduate courses in the Pre‑Law curriculum, advise students, supervise student research, conduct and publish scholarly research, develop curriculum, and facilitate community outreach. The successful candidate will also work cooperatively with faculty and staff across the college and campus, especially those associated with the Pre‑Law program.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate courses in philosophy of law, epistemology, critical thinking, and logic.
- Advise and mentor students in their major (Philosophy, Pre‑Law, or Religious Studies) and support their law school preparation.
- Conduct and publish research in philosophy and law.
- Develop curriculum and facilitate community outreach.
- Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
- Engage in community service and participate in department activities and programming.

About the ProgramFresno State’s Pre‑Law Option is within the Philosophy B.A. and is housed in the Department of Philosophy and the College of Arts & Humanities. Many of the Option’s students attend law school after graduation, while numerous students also pursue law‑related jobs without seeking a JD. Faculty also serve students within the California Law Pathways and the Central Valley Scholars Law Pathway.
