    The successful candidate will join a department dedicated to providing services responsive to the students it serves.

    Responsibilities

    Providing services at Clovis Community College, the counselor will cover a full range of counseling responsibilities including academic, career, transfer, and personal counseling to a diverse student population. The successful candidate for the counselor position will be responsible for:

    • Applying an equity-minded framework and ensuring services and processes are designed and delivered to meet the diverse needs of specialized population of students;
    • Assisting with coordinating and providing liaison services with high school special education case managers and related staff/faculty, college instructors, counselors, staff, and community partners such as California Department of Rehabilitation (CA DOR) to assist students in accessing appropriate accommodations and resources to support the student in the pursuit of their educational goals;
    • Working assignments in various settings and times, including evening and/or weekend, online or off-campus. Feeder high school visits are an integral part of the job duties;
    • Serving as an advocate for students with disabilities to facilitate equitable access to students transitioning into the community college;
    • Evaluating verification of disability documentation, conducting interactive discussions, identifying educational limitations, and arranging for appropriate and reasonable accommodations which address those limitations;
    • Developing/revising Academic Accommodation Plans (AAPs) and Student Educational Plans (SEPs) for students with disabilities;
    • Providing specialized academic, career, personal, and disability management counseling to students with disabilities from diverse backgrounds;
