Gastroenterologist (GI) Physician ResponsibilitiesThe Gastroenterologist (GI) physician is responsible for providing comprehensive medical and selected specialty services to outpatients, inpatients, and nursing home patients. The physician's duties include:
Veteran-Centered Care- Providing consultative care in Gastroenterology to veterans.
- Diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary diseases using accepted methods and techniques.
- Providing both inpatient and outpatient consultation services related to GI and liver diseases.
- Overseeing the administration of conscious sedation.
The physician performs a variety of GI procedures, including but not limited to:
- EGD (gastroscopy)
- Complex stricture dilation
- EGD with Peg
- Colonoscopies
- Push enteroscopy
- GI manometry
- Bravo study
- Advanced imaging studies, such as NBI and chromoendoscopy
- Actively participating and leading in research and education/training activities.
- Meeting the requirements for an academic appointment with the UCSF (University of California San Francisco) Fresno Medical Education Program.
- Involvement in the education and training of residents, fellows, medical students, and non-physician clinical trainees.
- Participating in grand rounds and delivering lectures.
The physician will integrate administrative duties, direct patient care, teaching, and research into daily activities and decision processes as a staff Gastroenterologist physician.
