The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is the backbone of California’s health care safety net. This role, Auditor I in the Audits & Investigations (A&I), Financial Review Outpatient and Behavioral Health Division (FROBHD), assists with compliance, financial and/or management audits. Audits include in-house desk audits and field audits. This position is within the Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)/Rural Health Clinics (RHC) South Section of FROBHD.
FROBHD conducts financial and compliance reviews and audits of Medi‑Cal and other DHCS programs, including Local Education Agency. Audits verify payments to providers and that reported costs are valid, accurate and in compliance with governing laws, regulations, and program intent. Audited data supports provider rate setting purposes.
The Auditor I classification qualifies for a "Hire Above Minimum" (HAM) salary.
Salary information: Auditor I starting salary is $4,470;
Staff Services Management Auditor starting salary is $4,926.

ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibilities include supporting compliance, financial and/or management audits for Medi‑Cal and other DHCS programs, and contributing to reviews in the Local Education Agency context. Audits are a combination of in‑house and field activities and involve verification of payments and costs, and data analysis to support program objectives and rate setting.
