Senior Accountant

Description We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team in Fresno, California. The ideal candidate will play a key role in overseeing accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and contributing to the development of efficient processes. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in accounting and leadership who excels at paying attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee specific sections of the general ledger, including preparing journal entries and completing monthly account reconciliations.

- Compile and analyze monthly internal financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance.

- Develop, review, and enhance accounting policies and standard operating procedures to improve efficiency.

- Lead the monthly close process, ensuring all deadlines are met and issues are promptly resolved.

- Perform monthly variance analyses and create ad-hoc financial reports to support decision-making.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on financial processes and reporting.

- Utilize advanced Excel functions and financial reporting software to manage data effectively.

- Provide guidance and supervision to entry-level accounting staff, supporting their growth and development.

- Ensure compliance with US GAAP standards and address any discrepancies in financial records as needed.

- Support audits and other regulatory requirements by preparing and providing accurate documentation. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

- A minimum of 4 years of accounting experience is necessary, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and complex functions, is essential.

- Hands-on experience with general ledger systems and financial reporting software is required.

- Familiarity with Microsoft Business Central and consolidated financial statements is a plus.

- Previous experience in the farming or agriculture industry is highly desirable.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail are required.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
