Job Summary

The Nurse Director in Training is primarily responsible for learning the duties of and assisting the Assistant Director of Health Services and/or the Director of Health Services in managing the day-to-day functions of resident health concerns and the overall operation of the Nursing Services Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing long-term care facilities to assure the highest quality of care for residents at all times.

• Learns and understands the policies and procedures that govern the level of care within the Health Campus.
• Learns to develop methods for coordination of nursing services with other resident services to ensure continuity of residents  total regimen of care.
• Learns to develop, implement, and maintain an ongoing quality assurance program for the nursing service department.
• Participates in facility surveys (inspections) by authorized government agencies.
• Follows all safety regulations, programs, policies, and procedures.
• Supports campuses, departmental goals, and the overall objectives of the Company.
• Follows the company s policies and procedures regarding resident complaints and/or grievances, including actions taken and status of the complaint.
• Learns to determine the staffing needs of the nursing service department to meet residents  nursing needs.
• Assists the Assistant Director of Health Services and/or the Director of Health Services in recruiting and selecting nursing service personnel.
• Participates in daily rounds of the nursing service department to ensure staff perform their work according to acceptable nursing standards.
• Reviews and audits resident electronic health records for accuracy and alignment with care provided and resident wishes.
• Participates in daily rounds to assess residents  nursing needs in accordance with their requests.
• Monitors medication passes and treatment schedules to ensure medications and treatments are provided as ordered.
• Provides direct nursing care as necessary.
• Identifies weekend management coverage and on-call duties on a rotating basis or as needed.
• Learns to lead campus programs such as Clinical Care Meeting (CCM), Clinically at Risk Meeting (CAR), and Quality Assurance Program Improvement (QAPI).
• Other duties as assigned.

• Experience:
  
  3-5 years
• Licenses and
  
  Certifications:
  
  Must have and maintain a current unencumbered, valid state RN license and current CPR certification.
• Physical Requirements:
  
  Sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stretching, stooping, walking, and moving intermittently during working hours; ability to lift at least 50 lbs; ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, residents, families, and external contacts.
