The Challenge (Job Summary)As a medical assistant, you will help our patients in all walks of life by providing high quality care, working with an excellent team, being a trusted resource for patients and team members, and supporting community engagement and volunteer efforts. The medical assistant is responsible for assisting providers with patient care, chart management, scheduling appointments, and assisting with in-office procedures; other duties may include assisting the front desk with clerical duties when needed.

- You are required to comply with all HIPAA and OSHA regulations and policies.
- Fulfill patient care responsibilities as assigned, including: checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam or procedure rooms; assisting patients with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.; collecting patient history; performing screenings per provider guidelines; assisting physicians and nurses with various procedures; charting; relaying instructions to patients and families; answering calls and providing pertinent information.
- Fulfill clerical responsibilities as assigned, including: sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information; completing forms and requisitions; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately.
- Fulfill environmental responsibilities as assigned, including: setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocol; cleaning exam and procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control; cleaning sterilizer according to schedule and keeping records; ordering, sorting and storing supplies; restocking exam and procedure rooms.
- Fulfill organizational responsibilities as assigned, including: respecting and promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing concerns about patients or staff with immediate supervisors promptly.

- High School Diploma Required
- Graduate of medical assisting program preferred
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant certification required (CMA/ RMA/ A
-OE) - Minimum of one year of work experience in a public contact job; preferably in a medical office
- Knowledge of the health care field
- Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and their families
- Skill in performing tasks accurately and with care
- Diplomacy in interpersonal interactions
- Ability to understand patient education needs and effectively share information with patients and their families
- Ability to identify equipment problems and correct or notify a supervisor
- Flexibility and ability to handle changing priorities
