The Reliability Engineer improves equipment and process performance by implementing proactive maintenance strategies and reliability best practices. This role focuses on reducing unplanned downtime, extending asset life and supporting continuous improvement across maintenance and operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive continuous improvement in equipment and process reliability by implementing proactive maintenance strategies, reliability best practices and standardized work processes.
  • Identify, analyze and prioritize reliability improvement opportunities using data-driven methods; develop and implement solutions that reduce downtime, improve asset performance and control maintenance costs.
  • Apply reliability engineering methodologies including RCM, RCA, FMEA and condition-based maintenance to diagnose failures and prevent recurrence.
  • Lead preventive and predictive maintenance optimization efforts, including lubrication excellence, precision maintenance (alignment, torque, tolerances) and use of predictive technologies such as vibration analysis, infrared thermography, oil analysis, ultrasonic testing and operational performance monitoring.
  • Establish, monitor and report on reliability and maintenance performance metrics, KPIs and balanced scorecards; analyze labor productivity, delays and controllable maintenance expenses.
  • Support and enhance use of Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) / CMMS as a core management tool.
  • Develop, document and maintain reliability standards including SOPs, equipment manuals, maintenance strategies and project reliability checklists.
  • Design and deliver reliability-focused training for maintenance, operations and new employees; promote knowledge sharing and best practices across teams and external networks.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, leadership teams and external suppliers to support operational excellence initiatives and reliability improvement programs.
  • Provide leadership and supervision for assigned staff, including workforce planning, hiring, training, performance management, scheduling and employee development in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of plant reliability, maintenance excellence and operational performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or a related technical field, or equivalent hands‑on experience in plant reliability or maintenance engineering.
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of reliability engineering principles, maintenance work processes and asset management systems.
  • Experience with CMMS/EAM platforms, maintenance metrics, financial and cost reporting and performance analytics.
  • Strong understanding of preventive, predictive and precision maintenance practices and tools.
  • Proven leadership, organizational and communication skills with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams and train diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, with the ability to develop and improve spreadsheets for performance tracking and analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills with the ability to work independently while knowing when to elevate issues.
  • Ability to read, interpret and prepare technical documentation, reports, procedures, financial data and regulatory materials.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, interruption‑driven environment.
  • Physically able to perform job requirements, including light lifting, standing, walking, bending and working in an industrial environment with varying conditions.
