Position: START Manufacturing Trainee, Quality
What to Expect

As a START Quality Engineering Technician, you will enter Tesla's START program, an intensive 8 week training course that develops the technical skills needed to support Optimus production operations through class theory and hands-on labs. Upon successful completion, you will transition into a full-time Quality Engineering Technician role responsible for verifying that incoming and in-process material meets Tesla engineering drawings and specifications.

No prior quality technician experience is required, the START program is designed to build these skills from the ground up. Successful graduates of the program will have the opportunity to accept full-time employment within 30 days of graduation.

* Internals will be considered based on shop allocation. Must be an internal from the Fremont Ecosystem to be considered.

What You'll Do

During START Training:

* Gain basic understanding of electricity, ESD, mechanics, computing software

* Inspect mechanical and assembly drawings and recognize the meaning of symbols related to the features of object geometry

* Elementary understanding of basic tools (Calipers, Depth Gauges, scales, pin gauges, Feeler Gauges, torque wrenches, DMM, etc.)

* Execute technician tasks independently after initial instruction

* Attend and pass each training session with an 80% or higher GPA

Upon Graduation as Quality Engineering Technician:

* Able to execute basic test methods to validate parts/process

* Able to determine dimensions, tolerances, and GD&T from drawings

* Work with Engineers to investigate, troubleshoot and root cause part and process issues

What You'll Bring

* Attend and pass each training session with an 80% or higher GPA

* Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.

* Must follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail

* Be able to work in a team-based environment and achieve goals with a "safety first" attitude

* Demonstrate basic computer skills, including navigating web browsers and using standard applications like Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

* Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
