Responsibilities

Release Quality & Readiness

Define, document, and apply release quality standards across software, system, and on-robot validation for customer deployments, demos, and feature rollouts

Assess release readiness and provide go / no-go recommendations based on established quality criteria, test results, including on-robot test results, and known risks

Test Strategy & Coverage

Design, document, and maintain a multi-layer testing strategy, including integration testing, system testing, and on-robot testing, and regression testing

Develop and maintain high-priority test suites focused on critical robot behaviors validated on real robots, and previously identified failure modes

Work with deployment teams to establish appropriate test coverage for customer-facing scenarios, including required on-robot validation prior to deployment

Maintain and apply field-readiness checklists and robot capability matrices based on validated on-robot behaviors to support deployment planning and risk evaluation

Develop, improve, and maintain test tools, simulation tests, CI tests, and log-replay workflows, on-robot test workflows as appropriate to the system

Test Execution & Reporting

Execute planned tests to validate robot behaviors in simulation and on physical robots against defined requirements and acceptance criteria

Collaborate with deployment engineers to identify potential risks and limitations based on on-robot test findings prior to onsite deployment

Track, analyze, and report quality metrics, including issue escape rate, regression recurrence rate, and on-robot scenario pass rate

Provide clear, timely, and actionable quality status updates incorporating on-robot test results to the engineering team to support informed release decisions

Qualifications

Required

Experience in QA, system test, validation, or test engineering for robotics systems, including on-robot testing

Strong understanding of system-level testing (software + hardware integration on real robots)

Ability to reason about failure modes and edge cases observed in physical robot operation

Comfortable blocking releases when quality standards are not met, including based on on-robot test results

Hands-on mindset: able to operate physical robots, run tests, and investigations independently

Preferred

Experience with robotic manipulators, automation, or warehouse robotics, including hands-on robot validation

Familiarity with simulation, log replay, or CI-based testing, and understanding their limits relative to on-robot testing

Basic scripting or programming ability (Python, C++, or similar) to support on-robot test automation and analysis

Experience working with field or deployment teams to execute and interpret on-robot tests in customer environments
