Director, Emergency Department – AMN Healthcare Leadership Solutions | B.E. Smith

Become the NEW Director of Emergency Services at Washington Hospital Healthcare System in Fremont, California. This role reports to the Assistant Vice President and Chief Quality Officer and leads a team of 128 FTEs in the Emergency Department, ensuring high-quality patient care and nursing services aligned with system goals.

• Oversee operations in the Emergency Department to deliver high-quality patient care and nursing services in line with Washington Hospital Healthcare System objectives.
• Lead and develop the department, ensuring staffing aligns with patient flow while reducing overtime and double-time usage.
• Be a hands-on, visible leader who fosters integrity, accountability, and cohesive teamwork; communicate effectively to unify and engage staff; drive data-driven decision making and proactive problem solving.

• Bachelor’s degree required; MSN preferred.
• Active RN license required.
• Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) preferred.
• Minimum of five years of experience as an RN in the Emergency Department, with at least five years of progressive leadership experience.

• Base salary range: $210,000 – $295,000 annually.
• Benefits may include health insurance, retirement benefits, bonuses, and other components; final compensation determined by scope, experience, education, and internal equity, subject to Fair Market Value evaluation.

• Washington Hospital Healthcare System is a 414-bed acute care facility with magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, recognizing excellence in nursing care (since 2011).
• System has expanded across critical care, emergency services, med/surg, imaging, labor & delivery, and OR; OR handles 300–400 cases monthly.

• Fremont is in the southeastern San Francisco Bay area, near Silicon Valley, with diverse cultural and recreational opportunities.
• San Francisco is about an hour away for weekend visits.
