The Group You’ll Be A Part OfIn the Global Products Group, we are dedicated to excellence in the design and engineering of Lam's etch and deposition products. We drive innovation to ensure our cutting-edge solutions are helping to solve the biggest challenges in the semiconductor industry.
The Impact You’ll MakeAs a RF Engineer at Lam, you play a crucial role in designing, building, and troubleshooting cutting‑edge radio frequency (RF) solutions for power delivery and plasma generation in our Etch and Deposition products. You specialize in utilizing RF as a power source and creating innovative generator designs. Your work paves the way for new power sources to be used Lam's wafer fabrication equipment.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Contribute to research and development efforts for future products and technology by collecting and analyzing data to improve electrical system designs.
- Perform professional RF electrical engineering research, design, development, modification, and evaluation in support of electrical and electro‑mechanical subsystems, embedded systems, and power distribution.
- Work within a multidisciplinary engineering design team (Firmware, FPGA, Mechanical, Electrical) to specify, design and modify custom and OEM system components.
- Work with suppliers to prepare detailed design, prototype fabrication, design testing/verification, and manage production release.
- Prepare and analyze test plans and procedures to assure that technical and operational requirements are met and can be properly demonstrated.
- Be responsible for the collection and analysis of pertinent material and data in preparation of your presentation at design, project, and program reviews.
- Lead focused cross‑functional teams, initiatives, and serve as a resource and mentor to other colleagues.
- Minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience.
- Primarily responsible for design/selection, testing and documentation of RF delivery systems.
- Must have hands‑on experience with complex RF measurement equipment:
Power Meters, Network and Spectrum Analyzers, oscilloscopes, field strength meters, etc. - Experience with RF/uW generator/source, impedance matching networks, transmission lines, and antennas.
- Technical working experience: 100 kHz to 100 MHz, single Watt to Kilowatt ranges, and high‑voltage DC delivery.
- Familiar with high voltage ( > 10 kV) and high current ( > 100 A) design rules; arcing, tracking, heat, and parasitic.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Outstanding analysis and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to drive functional requirements and execute in a dynamic team environment.
- Experience with semiconductor capital equipment or related industrial equipment industry experience.
- Experience with RF simulation suites: SPICE, ADS, Lab View, MathCAD, MATLAB, and analysis tools (i.e., – HFSS, Comsol, Maxwell).
- Appreciates learning and understanding challenges and limitations within other disciplines on system designs.
- Working knowledge of industry standards: SEMI, NFPA
79, NEC, UL, EN, IEC, ETG, etc. - Willingness to travel to international locations.
