Job DescriptionWestern Digital is seeking an entry‑level Quality Assurance Engineer to help drive continuous improvement in our manufacturing processes at our sites in San Jose and Fremont, CA. This role is ideal for recent graduates who are passionate about quality systems, data analysis, and collaboration. You will gain hands‑on experience with industry standards, regulatory compliance, and problem‑solving methodologies while working alongside experienced professionals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Supporting implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001 and corporate requirements.
- Participating in internal audits
, compliance checks, and CAPA tracking to drive continuous improvement. - Analyzing manufacturing, defect, and yield data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Collaborating with Engineering and Operations to standardize processes, review procedures, and maintain effective document control.
- Supporting 8D, FMEA, and risk analysis activities with engineering and production teams.
- Contributing to training and awareness programs (e.g., Quality Month, Quality Talks) to strengthen quality culture and compliance.
- Assisting in audit readiness by preparing objective evidence and supporting ISO, RBA, and customer audits
. - Supporting Product Regulatory Compliance activities, ensuring alignment with RoHS, REACH, EMC, Safety and other regulatory requirements

This position will be based in our Fremont, CA office with regular visits to our San Jose, CA site. This position requires 5 days of in‑office work per week, with a typical 9am‑5pm schedule.
QualificationsREQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with Electronics focus (preferred) with graduation date between December 2024-December 2025.
- Right to work in the US without requiring Western Digital to commence or sponsor an immigration case in order to employ you (for example, H-1B or other employment‑based immigration case).
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) – ISO 9001:2015 fundamentals
, including clauses, document control, and audit processes,
certification preferred. - Basic understanding of Integrated Management Systems (IMS) – exposure to ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 22301, or RBA standards is a plus.
- Familiarity with 8D problem solving, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Data analysis and presentation skills using MS Office tools.
- Understanding of 8D CAPA, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and control plans
. - Knowledge of statistical methods such as 5 WHY, Pareto charts, trend charts, histograms, and fishbone analysis.
- Awareness of Product Regulatory requirements
, including safety, environmental, and customer‑specific standards. - Strong problem solving, leadership, communication, adaptability, and project management skills.
