Staff Technical Product Manager Performance Modeling

We are looking for a Staff Technical Product Manager Performance Modeling to lead a sophisticated PV performance modeling and simulation platform used to evaluate energy yield, system performance, and scenario-based outcomes for utility-scale solar projects. This role requires deep understanding of PV system behavior and performance modeling, combined with strong product leadership and technical execution skills.

You will work closely with software engineering, data science, and PV subject matter experts to deliver a trusted, high-impact platform that supports internal teams and external customers in making critical design, commercial, and operational decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the product vision and roadmap for a PV performance modeling and simulation platform
  • Define product strategy across use cases such as energy yield estimation, loss modeling, scenario analysis and comparisons
  • Ensure modeling accuracy, transparency, and traceability while balancing usability and performance
  • Drive roadmap decisions based on technical feasibility, modeling fidelity, and business impact
  • Partner with PV engineers on energy yield and performance modeling methodologies, loss trees, tracker behavior, system configurations, and design assumptions
  • Translate PV modeling concepts into clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Make informed tradeoffs between model complexity, runtime performance, and user experience
  • Lead agile execution including backlog prioritization, sprint planning, and release management
  • Work closely with engineering to deliver scalable, maintainable, and well-documented features
  • Own end-to-end delivery of modeling enhancements, new inputs, outputs, and workflows
  • Ensure robust validation, testing, and versioning of models and assumptions
  • Engage directly with internal stakeholders such as sales, engineering, operations, and leadership
  • Gather feedback from users on model accuracy, usability, and outputs
  • Support customer-facing teams with technical explanations of modeling results and assumptions
  • Communicate complex PV and modeling concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in Product Management, Technical Product Management, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Education:

MS or higher preferred. A BS is acceptable with additional relevant industry experience.
  • Strong understanding of PV systems and PV performance modeling, including energy yield estimation and loss analysis
  • Hands-on experience working with:
  • PV performance or simulation tools (internal or commercial)
  • PV system configurations, tracker behavior, and design parameters
  • Proven ability to work deeply with engineering teams on complex, algorithm-driven products
  • Experience writing detailed technical product requirements and specifications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to modeling accuracy and detail
  • Experience working in agile development environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with cloud-based platforms, APIs, or scalable analytics systems
  • Familiarity with validation of models against measured or operational data
