QualificationsJob Description
Kyocera SLD Laser is looking for an experienced Epitaxy Equipment Maintenance Technician to join our Epitaxy Fabrication operation teams to support the manufacturing and advanced development of cutting‑edge GaN‑based laser diode products. The successful candidate will directly support our MOCVD tool maintenance activities as well as work in a team environment to optimize equipment, hardware, and processes.
Specific Responsibilities
- Perform both routine preventative and specialty maintenance of MOCVD reactors, associated process equipment, and characterization tools.
- Responsible for the maintenance of facilities supporting MOCVD reactors, associated process equipment, and characterization tools such as gas delivery systems, gas filtration systems, heat exchangers, vacuum pumps, etc.
- Perform frequent MOCVD reactor hardware parts cleaning.
- Perform equipment failure troubleshooting and root cause analysis and make recommendations for repairs and modifications.
- Perform incoming inspections and measurements on equipment and parts received.
- Prepare SOPs and parts specification documentation.
- Routine inventory control of spare parts and consumables.
- Interface with equipment and facilities vendors to support 24/7 manufacturing operation.
- Participate in safety programs and related certifications.
Experience and Skills
- Minimum of five years’ experience working in a semiconductor industry or similar.
- Solid MOCVD epitaxy equipment knowledge.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude with a hands‑on approach; related certifications a plus.
- Comprehensive communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with engineers, operators, and technicians.
- Experience with quality systems and requirements a plus.
- Ability to work in a cleanroom environment.
- Attention to detail and understanding of the importance of quality workmanship.
- Dependable and able to maintain on‑call hours or occasional irregular work hours or work week.
- Good written and organizational skills; proficient in MS Office.
- Self‑driven with the flexibility to work independently or under general guidance and direction.
Safety Responsibilities
- May be required to maintain certifications for response to emergencies (i.e. HAZCOM, HAZOPER, FIRST‑AID, CPR, ERT, ETC.) as required.
- Able to properly use safety equipment to analyze risks and emergencies (respirator, gas leak detection, etc.).
- Possess a strong personal focus on safety for themselves and those around them.
- Safety conscious and able to maintain a safe work environment.

- May be required to receive medical clearance for respirator use.
