Position DescriptionWe are creating a pool of qualified candidates for temporary part‑time teaching assignments in Ceramics. Assignments may be day, evening, or weekend courses, in‑person, online, or hybrid. Applicants will remain in the pool for two years and may be contacted for interviews as needs arise.
Duties and Responsibilities- Teach Ceramics classes following post‑secondary level course outlines.
- Evaluate student work using clear criteria aligned with course content and learning outcomes; provide timely feedback.
- Maintain and submit accurate records (grades, syllabi, attendance reports) according to deadlines.
- Create an equity‑based and welcoming classroom environment.
- Perform duties described in board policy, the United Faculty of Ohlone contact, the Faculty Handbook, and as assigned at the Fremont Campus, Newark Center, eCampus, or other designated locations.
- Master’s in fine arts, art, or art history; or bachelor’s with a master’s in humanities; or equivalent.
- Commitment to equity‑based, anti‑racist education and culturally responsive practice.
- Evidence of responsiveness to diverse academic and socio‑economic backgrounds, including students with disabilities.
- Experience teaching at the community college level.
- Experience with innovative, student‑engagement teaching methods.
- Experience creating socially conscious syllabi and inclusive materials.
- Experience addressing equity issues and supporting diverse student populations.
- Technology proficiency (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Team‑work ability.
