What to Expect
Consider before submitting an application:
This position is expected to start May 2026 and continue through summer term (ending approximately August 2026 or later, if available). We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships.
International Students:
If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.
Internship Program at Tesla
Location:
Fremont, CA
- Focus on user centric design platforms
- Leverage user flows and visual designs such as UI elements
- Research and define UX strategy, contribute to the overall product and design direction from concept to implementation
- Develop creative and innovative design solutions for various types of customers from different backgrounds and with different requirements
- Constantly measure how designs are performing for target customers; iterate and improve those experiences as needed
- Work in a highly collaborative environment; invest in building relationships and trust with other designers, software engineers and product partners
- Present work to partners, stakeholders and senior leaders regularly
- Leverage Tesla UX design standards and guidelines. Advocate for consistency across team members and partners
- Currently pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, UI/UX, Human-Computer Interaction or related field
- An excellent portfolio showcasing user experience, visual design and UI work with a strong design sensibility and excellent, user centric storytelling
- Excellent visual, UI, and interaction skills, ability to think through complex interaction design
- Proficient and highly skilled in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite and other design tools
- Customer-focused, with experience using design research methods to uncover customer insights
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated, able to work independently but also collaborative and driven by group critique
- Ability to perform in a fast paced, high stress iterative design process under minimal supervision

$20.00 - $50.00/hour + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
