Job Details (Travel Nursing Assignment)- Job Title: Travel Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – Nights
- Location: Freeport, IL 61032 (Illinois travel nursing job)
- Healthcare Setting: Acute Care Medical‑Surgical (may float to Tele/ICU for Med/Surg overflow within scope)
- Start Date: 03/16/2026
- Assignment End Date: 06/15/2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 12‑hour nights (7p–7a)
- Hours: 36 hours/week (guaranteed)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Rotating
- Charting/EMR: MEDITECH
- Unit Structure: Three Med/Surg units staffed interchangeably (24 beds, 17 beds, 15 beds)
- Typical Nurse‑to‑Patient Ratios: Days 1:4–5;
Nights 1:5–6 - Orientation: Department‑specific orientation with preceptor support
- Estimated Weekly Pay Range: $1,800–$1,890/week
- RN License: Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (required at submission)
- Certifications: BLS (required)
- Experience: Recent acute care Med/Surg RN experience preferred; 2+ years of recent experience is a plus. First‑time travelers are welcome.

Skills:
Post‑op care (general/ortho/podiatry), general medical patients (CHF, COPD, diabetes), wound care, and drains - Preferred: Tele workflows (patients may be centrally monitored) and/or strong CNA collaboration in higher‑acuity assignments
- Provide safe, evidence‑based patient care as a Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) for post‑operative and general medical populations
- Complete focused assessments, implement nursing care plans, administer medications, and monitor patient response throughout the night shift
- Manage common Med/Surg therapies and equipment, including BiPAP support (managed by Respiratory), wound vacs, surgical drains, and CBI as applicable
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team including charge nurse, nursing supervisor, monitor tech/tele nurse validation processes, and CNAs
- Document accurately and on time in MEDITECH (EMR charting)
- Float as needed to Tele/ICU areas to care for Med/Surg overflow patients within scope and competency
- Support patient and family education, discharge readiness, and continuity of care
